No nation
becomes developed by having majority of its citizens as critics and complainers.
Africa is where she is today because most of us fold our arms to do nothing, yet
we complain about the nation and leadership without taking initiative to make a
change we desire to see.
Constructive
criticism may have its positive impact by helping to keep leaders on guard for the
purpose of checks and balances. Many times critics and complainers end up being
worse than the people they criticize.
No nation or
leader is 100% in their policy making process and no policy suits different
tribes and communities at the same time without any form of conflict either. As
a leader understanding the power of being proactive helps you take initiative
and responsibility to do what others complain about.
Our nation
has stayed long enough in mediocrity, poverty, poor education, corruption with
high teenage pregnancy and maternal mortality that in its alarming rate. To
deny our challenges is to live in lies and deceit, but like every nation that
has ever risen from ashes to grace, stopped complaining and took
responsibility.
No other
person is destined to change this nation but fellow Liberians as you and I. The
day we make a decision to transform this nation is the day we begin to enjoy
bliss and prosperity. No matter how big the dream of the promise land sounds,
it begins with you and I. You and I can make the change that will bring glory
to this nation. When we pay attention to our families, which is the smallest
unit of the society. When every youth become patriotic not in insulting leaders
but partnering to make this nation better.
There is no
limit to what we could become as a nation, but complains won’t get us there. To
complain is to stop thinking, get emotion and give up fate. To complain is to
give up your rights and responsibility to make a change to others. When a
nation becomes dissatisfied and people fold their arms to complain, we will lose
hold of being grateful for the peace we now enjoy, the resources we have the
abilities inherent within us.
No matter
what and how much we have lost, what we have is still enough to take us to
where God has destined us to be. The day we all become a caring and loving
citizen is the day many societal ills will become a thing of the past.
Africa as a
continent is the most blessed in the whole universe. Our challenges have been
waiting for others to make life better for us.
This is a
call for a new generation of leaders who will be bold to stand against
injustice, people who will do the right thing regardless of who is doing wrong.
Now is the time for us to become the leader that we hope to see. It is a call
to become a living example of the future we dream about. Today is all we have,
yesterday is never coming back. To hold on to yesterday is to resolve to live
in failure of the past and when you live in yesterday you cannot really see,
believe, neither can you maximize today
nor think of tomorrow.
As a nation
we must realize that we have no excuse for failure and failure is not an
option.
No matter
what you think, say or how much you complain only you can make a change in your
life. You alone can do what you were created to do, and only you can be what
you were born to be because you are unique. There is something in you that this
nation needs; you have a gift we all are waiting to see. In you lies abilities
more than your mind can phantom. So rise up and make the change you’ll love to
see in Liberia because if you don’t who will.
Gone are the
days when we make the grave richer because men die without fulfilling destiny.
It’s no longer time to complain and give excuse. No government in the world was
elected to put food on citizen’s table but make laws and provide an enabling
environment for industry to thrive. So let’s face it, let’s face the reality
because our destinies is not in any man’s hand, not even in the hands of God
but yours. You are so powerful, you are so important to this nation and you
alone can determine what tomorrow holds for you and your children; it begins
with what you do today.
