Leadership is about positive
influence, leadership is about helping others attain greater height than they
could have without a competent leader. As a leader what you know is your edge.
Knowledge is power, the difference between the rich and the poor, the wise and
the foolish s what they know.
From time immemorial money does not
grow on tree but money is a servant to men who are committed to knowledge and people
who spend time researching in order to be competent and capable of providing
solutions to the needs of their society.
Once I heard a parable that broke my heart and makes me want to cry. It goes thus “if you want to hide anything from a black man, put it in a book.” I wondered why such, a Deming parable could ever be in existence but true enough, Africa needs to take a new turn. We need to be consistent in our commitment to learning.
As a leader this is a call for you
and I to make a decision today to be passionate about knowledge. Read books,
not only to pass exams but for knowledge that will distinguish you in due time.
In the Holy Scriptures I heard God
say, “My people perish for lack of knowledge!” It is important to note that
they did not perish because of the devil or generational curses but lack of
knowledge.
Lack of knowledge makes people despise
information that could be the essence of their success in future. Lack of
knowledge makes leaders abuse power, forgetting that history will judge what
you did with the opportunities at your disposal and how you used it. Lack of
knowledge makes leaders steal from their own country to build another man’s
country.
I believe the world will be a better
place when we all commit to learning, when we build in our children and youths
the right orientation and values that builds a great nation. When we as a people
prioritize education and become a living example of the innovations we desire
to see.
Africa has stayed long enough in the
darkness of mediocrity, dependence and underdevelopment. Our challenge is not
resources many times, but information and knowledge on how to maximize what we
have for the betterment of our unborn generation.
