It was a journey quit an experience, the beauty of nature and the air of serenity in the inner cities of Liberia. This is a Lawma community in Voinjama District Lofa County, Liberia. A city now at peace after many years of tribal conflict which left many people dead.
Time may have past but the scares remains in the heart of the people but most importantly, they rejoice for the peace they now enjoy.
It was a great sight for me seeing the making of palm oil, Africans are indeed very creative in their own way, women and children at the local oil factory producing oil for public consumption. One thing that stayed on my mind is how where they able to calve a rock into something like a bowl where this woman is standing to make the palm oil.
Feel the joy of creativity from these women in the inner cities, one thing is sure if more investment could come to the inner cities, imagine the productivity that would be in Africa within the next few years. Meeting more than 70 people withing one and half week on a project was such a great opportunity and exposure at least away from the urban areas into the heart of Africa.
These are the leaders of tomorrow like we all say, sometimes am forced to think what does the future really hold for our children. No matter what you think we all have a role to play, if you are not part of the solution then you are a part of the problem. Every child deserve love, every child desire education a key and a light to lit Africa from the darkness of ignorance.
Women and children in the struggle for survival, some times am tempted to ask "where are the fathers?" How many years would it take to creak these rocks to get a trailer load of products for sales. If the axe is dull more strength would be required.
Here I seat in my little boat at the river Nimba, praying for the peace of Africa. A land full of resources, a land blessed with all the goodness of the earth, but like a child recovers from fever Africa will rise again and fulfill her purpose when many more nation builders are raised with a heart that loves unconditionally. Hear the sound of the people crying, hear the sound of the fatherless crying, see the women in pain who will save our nations from impending doom and frustrations?
Here we are at the foot of the mountain, taking a look at the view of Voinjama city, I can only imagine if our leaders and authorities can see the heart and pain of our people, if there is ever a hope for good medical facilities in our nations.
Even with the pen sometimes you don't know what else to write because of the complexity of the problems and poverty in our nations, the rural areas sometimes seems to be twenty years behind even though we all live in the same nation.
This is a symbol of strength a warrior at William Tubman memorial college in Lofa County Liberia. It is a traditional monument of the people's heritage, the richness of the African culture and strength is evident just by a look at this image.
Here at the symbol of peace after the war, here is where all African Presidents gathered after the war. This image was erected as a symbol of peace, peace in Africa and the world at large. The need for peaceful coexistence among various communities cannot be overemphasized as development can only thrive in a peaceful environment.
Either at the market place or in the office everyone has something to contribute to the next level of the nation.
Markku Vesikko of the Finish Refugee Council expresses is love and concern for the people of Liberia an improvement in the quality of life and standard of living which his NGO stands to represent.
