No man is an island. We all need each other someday. Any man who desires success must realize that importance and power of partnership in pursuit of success. God has so fabricated this world in a way that we all need each other. Everyman created by God has an inherent value to offer, and uncommon potentials to succeed and become anything he or she desires to be.
One of the keys to success in life, marriage or business is
valuing partnership. It begins with knowing that you need others. Your vision
is not worthy to be called a vision if you can fulfill it alone. God never
gives you a vision to run alone, that’s why to every Moses there is an Aaron
and to every David there is a Jonathan. All through history you will discover
that men and women who have accomplished great and mighty things didn’t do it
alone. No matter how intelligent or mighty you are, you need somebody’s help to
fulfill your dreams.
The formation of the human body says it all, the eyes need the nose and the nose needs the mouth as well as other parts of the body. No big incorporation ever became so mighty by the knowledge and intelligence of one man. Truly there is a place for a vision bearer but there are also those that are called along to bear the burden of vision along with you and fulfill the vision along with you.
Many leaders are struggling today, because of lack of trust
for partnership. Greed, lust for fame and the selfishness of “me, myself and I
mentality” limits us many times from the seeing into the future and building
healthy relationships that could be best for our future and vision.
A careful study of the biggest incorporation in the world reveals
that, one man may be the brain but there are others who are hands and legs,
ears and mouths of the vision.
One thing that
promotes partnership is selflessness. Great partners who know how to work with
people always use the word, “we” rather “I.” Using “we,” as a regular
vocabulary is including others and making them feels secured in your business
or vision. When you learn to promote the interest of others who are working
together with you towards your vision you will not need to sweat to motivate
them to work along with you.
Partnership is also
hindered by lack of respect for other people’s opinion. Every man is entitled
to their opinion no matter how foolish it sounds. If you truly desire success
and want to build a good partnership you must cultivate a healthy listening
skill. Many people think, speaking at people all the time without asking them
what’s on their mind is what makes them a respected leader. They may obey you because of protocol but
their hearts and interests may be far from you, their drive and motivation may
soon go weak.
As a leader I realize that the beauty and power of
leadership is followership. Many times we pay so much attention to leadership
and ignore the power of followership, but you can never become a good leader if
you are not a good follower. Grate leaders are those who value and appreciate
their followers. The deception we face many times is thinking that if you
appreciate a staff or partner the person may begin to feel proud or may want to
shine above you which is weakness in leadership. Appreciating the partnership effort of your
followers does not make you less, but adds value to you and makes you a better
person.
Quit the pride, and face the reality because you truly
cannot succeed alone. Partnership is an essential factor in life and business,
we as leaders must pay attention to. Partnership involves two or more people
combining their strengths together to achieve a common goal. In an effective
partnership each partner has rights, as well as responsibilities. There’s
something you have, so put it on the table.
Partnership is also working together as a team, with focus and
motivation. No matter how skillful you are as a football player you cannot win
a tournament alone. You need the concerted effort of your team mates, a team
dedicated and determined to win will always win.
Now is the time to make a difference and achieve the
incredible by the power of partnership. It begins with valuing others, and knowing
how to work with people. Refuse to feel insecure, and build trust in your
partners. Understand that one may chase a thousand but two will chase ten
thousand. Give someone a call today, and show how much you care and value their
partnership in your vision.
