PROLOGUE

(Noise and confusion is heard. Crying and mourning of parents who had just lost their children)

AWERO: Kabiesi! (Your highness) It has happened

BASHORUN: What happened?

AWERO: Two children in one day? Oh what can I do? (Crying and hitting her hands on the floor. Two other villagers come in)

BISI: Kabiesi the great river in our community has tuned into blood.

ALL: Ha!

BASIRA: There is so much evil in the land (Other villagers gather. There is so much confusion in the atmosphere. IYALODE moves closer to BASHORUN, whispers to his ears).

IYALODE: My people, caution is required in this matter. BASHORUN is working really hard to make sure we put an end to his evil. You may gather in a fortnight to hear from BASHORUN on the sacrifice we might have to make to cleanse these evil from our community. (The people departed mournfully to their respective homes. Dirge music plays  at the background).

BASHORUN: Thank you IYALODE. GUARDS! (Drum role as two GUARDS run towards BASHORUN). Tell all my Chiefs to meet me immediately in my palace.

SCENE 1

BASHORUN: Welcome to Ilubaje. A land unpleasant, a land infested with pain and diseases. This was not our history but unpleasant experiences can re-brand a people beyond they can introduce themselves.

Elders of our community?

CHIEFS: KAbiesi o

BASHORUN: Is these how you will be looking at me?

AKINLAPA: BASHORUN, let us not be sacred of Iku (Death). I AKINLAPA is ready to die at any time.

BALOGUN: Will you shut your mouth? Who does not know a poor man who has no children nor property to lose, will be willing to die at any given opportunity.

AKINLAPA: You dear talk to me like that? (Moving towards BALOGUN as if to fight)

BASHORUN: Elders of our land, solution is what I seek not violence.

AKINLAPA: BASHORUN let us call AKUKA the great medicine man to come cleanse the land of this evil.

BALOGUN: He failed the last time we called him.

SALIU: If the gods will not hear the medicine man, let us call ANIKULAPO KUTI perhaps the gods will listen to music, dance and forgive us.

BALOGUN: You really think this is a comedy show? ANIKULAPO ko Anikuni shokoto ni…

SALIU: Then I will bring a last suggestion you cannot reject.

BALOGUN: Shut up your mouth!

BASHORUN: No?

BALOGUN: BASHORUN he has nothing to offer.

BASHORUN:  No… I insist, let him speak for the last time. Wisdom can sometimes come out of foolishness you know?

SALIU: Thank you so much BASHORUN. I spoke with a Christian missionary in the neighboring village… He said he has someone who has the power to do all things and cleanse our land from pain, shame and sorrow if given the opportunity.

BALOGUN: Let him seat down Kabiesi. I told you he has nothing to offer.

BASHORUN: No! Not after I have heard what he just said.  SALIU how much did he say he will collect?

AKINLAPA: Nothing Kabiesi.

BASHORUN: Did you say nothing?

SALIU: Yes kabiesi...

BASHORUN: Will he require human sacrifice?

SALIU: No Kabiesi. In fact, he said the only human sacrifice that is required to save us has been made by his master.

BASHORUN: SALIU!

SALIU: Kabiesi…

BASHORUN: SALIU!!

SALIU: Kabiesi…

BASHORUN: SALIU!!!

SALIU: Ka… (Obviously afraid)

BASHORUN: How many times did I call you?

SALIU: One, four, two, three or…

BASHORUN: Where are your legs?

SALIU: Outside sir… emm, o I mean right here Kabiesi

BASHORUN: Where ever it is, run as fast as your legs can take you. I want that powerful missionary here in few minutes! (SALIU drops his walking stick and start running. Other Chiefs are laughing but confused about what just happened).

SCENE TWO

(BASHORUN’s palace. All the Chiefs are seated in their beautiful traditional attire.  SALIU! Run inside panting heavily)

BASHORUN: How dear you run into my palace like that? Will you comport yourself, otherwise?

SALIU: Otherwise? You said other wise? Otherwise nothing o Kabiesi. Please forgive my mannerism. The mission… the mission, the mi... I mean the missionary is here.

MISSIONARY: I bring you greetings from my master Kabiesi.

BASHORUN: I greet you and your benevolent Master. Our land is in total mess. We need your help what must we do so that we do not perish as a people? Please whatever you want, even to half of my kingdom I am willing to give...

MISSIONARY: Only believe your highness and you will see the salvation of the Lord.

CHIEFS: Only believe?

MISSIONARY: Yes! If you only believe in my Master, your sorrows will be over.

BASHORUN: Mr. Missionary forgive me but yours is different from other gods like Sango, Oya, Obatala that we know. They are quick to request for something costly, even if it means the heads of the whole villagers they don’t mind.

MISSIONARY: Thank you so much Kabiesi. My Master loves you so much and he won’t request for your heads. He has paid the prize and all you need to do is believe, accept him and put away your strange gods.

BASHORUN: Mr. Missionary. I like you, your master and what you said but that gods you talk about is the only difficult thing from your request. Traditions you know? I mean this is about the legacy of our ancestors...

MISSIONARY: Your ancestors have lived and are gone. They are no longer affected by the sufferings your people are going through. The gods you talked about have eyes but cannot see, they have ears but cannot hear and neither can they help the sufferings of your people. Would you rather hold on to these false gods and watch your wife, children, family and community perish?

BASHORUN: Don’t be angry Mr. MISSIONARY. I was just thinking aloud but now that we believe what can we do?

MISSIONARY: Gather all the villagers immediately.

BASHORUN: Guards! Guards!! Where are my Guards?

GUARDS: At your service your highness.

BASHORUN: Gather all the villagers to the palace immediately. (Drum roll, GUARDS leaves immediately ringing their bells to inform the people. The palace is filled with people, young and old. MISSIONARY preach salvation to them. They accept Christ and were healed of all their sicknesses).

BASHORUN: My eyes have seen the salvation of the Lord. What a way to celebrate Christmas not for chicken and rice for a rebirth of Christ into our lives as a people. I will always be grateful to God for SALIU. I thought he was a fool but in his foolishness, is the wisdom that delivered us as a people from destruction and hell. This community shall no longer be called ILUBAJE a land of reproach and sorrow but we shall now be call ILUOLOLA; a Kingdom and city of joy, peace and prosperity. Merry Christmas my people!

YES YOU CAN! by EZEKIEL MOSES

Nothing in this world is more certain than possibilities. Nothing gives more satisfaction than victory and success.

In this world where some cry and others laugh, many things go wrong and many things go right. Sometimes we might feel incapable, unfit and unsure about our abilities and prowess but if the truth is told and we disregard the fact, the truth is that we always can!

To everything in life there is a purpose, a reason and a destination determined by the choices you make. Life always presents us with options even when we seem to be stranded or broke. Many a times we are carried away by the noise of environment and the circumstances we face that we forget about who we truly are.

No matter what you have lost in life or how many times you have failed there is still something worth celebrating in you. There is a light in you that we need to shine, there is a song in you that needs to heard and sung. The abilities in you are truly unlimited but daily taking a step in the right direction just takes you closer to your destiny.

Refuse to be fooled or intimidated by anyone. Whoever you consider a success today has a story of failure. On your journey to success there are many bus stops you will meet called failures. Being distracted by failures actually makes people fail, not because success isn’t possible.

The earlier you believe it the better for you. The more focused you are about success the more you can achieve everything your heart conceives. Now is the time, no time to waste, this is your opportunity such that makes a difference in your life and sets you on the right path.

Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t make it simply because your business or dreams are yet to be established. I once wrote a book entitled I LIKE PROBLEMS, in which I said “there’s nothing called generational curses! What exist are generational problems we refuse to solve for the next generation.” The day Africans begin to believe in our abilities and strengths and consciously solve our problems in view that the next generation must enjoy our legacy and not have to face the same challenges we faced in our generation, is the day we will set ourselves free from modern colonization.

Sometimes our situation looks so bad that we can hardly believe in our own abilities but no matter how much people believe in you, you are still a failure if you don’t believe in yourself. Believing in yourself inspires and energizes you to achieving greater heights of success. Nothing can truly stand on your way of success but you. When you know you can, your confidence level will rise and you will begin to achieve uncommon success.

The reason many people fail in life is not because they had problems but because they lack the right attitude to solving problems. Problem is part of life, even if you choose to call it challenges. The most important thing is how you handle such, when they come. Your attitude to solving problems can determine your success or failure. If you truly desire success, believe that you are born to win because you can. Believe in your ability and intelligence to pass your examination and have good grade because you truly can. I have discovered that no matter how much you have read for an examination, if you don’t believe in your ability to pass that exams you might still fail. I have seen such students who totally forgot all they read as soon as they see the question papers because of fear, thus they ended up failing even though they studied so hard.

All things are truly possible, if you know you can. As long as you are willing to pay the price of success, success is sure. But lack of faith and confidence in yourself can still lead to failure no matter the potentials you have in you.

Begin today by building a healthy self-esteem. No wonder Jesus said “believe in God, believe also in me!” Believing in yourself is not necessarily the job description of others to you, but what you owe yourself. Until you believe in you, you may not be able to achieve some level of success.

Most people focus on their weaknesses rather than strength. Thus they find it very difficult believing in themselves. No matter your humble beginnings, possibilities lays within you. Rise from your ashes and become all you were born to be. Like every great man that ever made history rose above their limitations and reached out for possibilities against all odds. This is your opportunity to make a difference, yes you must, yes you will and yes you can!

Meet AmiCietta-Personality for the week-EZEKIEL MOSES

Hi, I’m AmiCietta. A holistic health coach, speaker, writer, wellness advocate, entrepreneur and corporate lawyer. 

I am so delighted to be here today, live at CHANGE ENTERTAINMENT with my brother and friend Ezekiel Moses. I’m passionate about teaching you how to reclaim every aspect of your health. My mission is to help you fall in love with yourself again, realize that you have the power to change your health and support you through your journey to optimal health. Whether you’re suffering from an autoimmune disease or you’re trying to prevent one, I want you to live a vibrant, full, healthy life and help you get to the next level. I’m passionate about real food (and definitely juicing!), moving my body in a way that I love, incorporating mind body healing techniques into my life and reducing environmental toxins.

How it all began

Not too long ago, my body was failing me. I was suffering from myasthenia gravis, a rare autoimmune disease which causes grave muscle weakness throughout the body, while burning my candle at both ends. I was practicing corporate law, working 80-100 hour weeks, getting “high” on sugar and not sleeping. I had difficulty doing things that we all take for granted—driving, dialing a phone number and even crossing the street, while at the same time taking prescription drugs that suppressed my immune system and steroids to keep me “well”. It wasn’t until I got another stunning diagnosis, steroid induced osteoporosis at age 32, that I was forced to rethink everything and take control of my own health.

After my osteoporosis diagnosis, I was desperate to find natural ways to reverse myasthenia and take control of my health. I went to see a naturopathic doctor (I highly recommend that!) but also made a number of lifestyle changes. I began researching and implementing everything that I could about the healing power of foods, organic living, environmental toxins and other complementary modalities like yoga, meditation, acupuncture and chiropractic care. I adopted an anti-inflammatory diet and started juicing. My symptoms finally started improving. I was amazed! After years of drug therapy, I finally saw that my body was responding to dietary and lifestyle changes.

Eventually I quit my job because I knew that the stress and long hours were affecting my health. I have come to discover that drugs do not heal — they only mask the symptoms. You have the ability to improve many conditions if you listen to your body, put yourself in the right environment and adopt the principles that later became Clean Body Living — become more aware of your body, move your body in a way that is comfortable to you, eat whole unprocessed foods, take care of yourself by reducing your stress and getting adequate sleep and reducing the environmental toxins in your life. I’ve studied holistic health at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City and am now a certified holistic health coach who focuses on helping women with autoimmune diseases and other chronic illnesses to manage their conditions and find balance in their lives through Clean Body Living.

Personally, he blessed me and my family whiles in Assemblies of God Church, Ogba -Lagos Nigeria.
